Halfway between jewelry and talisman, it draws its identity from the remarkable history of hematite, a stone whose name is closely linked to blood, iron, strength, and ancient ideas of protection.
Metallic grey in appearance, almost black when lost in shadow, hematite conceals an unexpected secret.
When reduced to powder, it reveals a reddish-brown color reminiscent of blood.
This characteristic is the origin of its name, derived from the Greek word haima, meaning “blood.”
A dark stone.

⚔️ HEMATITE – THE BLOOD OF STONE
Hematite is a mineral naturally rich in iron, instantly recognizable by its dark metallic and anthracite-grey appearance.
But beneath this cold surface lies a characteristic that has fascinated people since ancient times: its reddish-brown streak, reminiscent of blood.
This feature gave hematite its name and helped surround the stone with powerful symbolism.
Across different periods and traditions, hematite has been symbolically associated with strength, courage, grounding, and protection.
Its connection with iron and blood has also inspired a martial imagery, naturally echoing Mars, the Roman god of war.
In LE SANG DE MARS, this symbolism meets that of the Memento Mori.
